Description

Three experiments were conducted to investigate whether control processes for resolving within-language (e.g. Stroop incongruency) competition are similar to those resolving between-language competition (e.g. language switching) during language production with Dutch-English, Arabic-English, and Chinese-English bilunguals. We found no clear interaction between Stroop incongruency and language switch costs. This suggests different control processes are implemented to reduce cross- and within-language interference.
