These data are related to the 2024 thesis 'Transcending dimensions; democratizing access: utilizing cost-effective technology to transition to 2D to 3D to AR' which investigated the need for developing a solution for democratising access to Augmented Reality archives of 3D reconstructed models of objects, building and structures.
The data comprise a Software Prototype and Case Study raw files and models. The Software prototype contains the PC Software, the Android .apk and project files for both with a Read me document containing instructions for installation and use. The Case study raw files and models includes all the captured objects photographs and their respective generated 3d models. Using the software PC and Android one, and using the raw images provided, the 3d models can be generated. The case study data can also be used to reconstruct models using other software available for a more critical analysis. The prototype allows for a cost-effective 3D reconstruction to AR visualisation using PC and mobile app, eliminating the digital divide, while exploring case studies including Historic preservation, Medical education and Games.
