Description
Study one focused on strength and direction of handedness. Data were categorized into left and right and mixed and strong handedness groups. Edinburgh handedness scores were entered for two scoring systems. Gender was also recorded here. The study consisted of four different tasks, the first three involved making a choice whether the preferred item should be paced on the left or right. the columns indicate if left is good or right is good (indicated by a 1 for the preferred side). The Zongoids and Fribbles alien data indicate how many items were selected as left as good or right as good. The Excel sheet for the experiment 1 also contains the answers to the open-ended questions asking the participants about their choices.
Study two data focused on direction of handedness. Data were categorized into left and right handedness groups. Edinburgh handedness scores were entered for two scoring systems. Gender was also recorded here. The data is from an Implicit Association Task where participants were assigned into one of the two conditions (compatible and incompatible- we started with the same positive direction as their handedness group or the opposite direction from their handedness group and then switched to the opposite condition). Mean and median reaction times were calculated for compatible and incompatible responses/ condition. The number of errors for compatible and incompatible conditions were recorded. The mean and median difference scores were also calculated for reaction time. Study two data also consisted of responses of the open-ended questions asking participants what their own handedness means to them and what they think about their own and others' handedness (this is contained in the Excel data sheet for study two).
The data is embargoed due to planned publications.
