Personal profile

I'm a PhD student at Abertay University focused on counteracting the novel cybersecurity threat posed by AI deepfakes. I hold a BA in Psychology from the University of Strathclyde and an MSc in Psychology research methods from the University of Glasgow, where I specialised in cognition and perception. Here, I conducted research into human face and voice recognition with the potential for forensic application.

Building on my prior experience in Cognitive psychology, my doctoral research aims to improve the human ability to discern deepfakes from genuine media by examining the cognitive mechanisms which underly deepfake detection. Supported by engagement with professionals in cyber policing and related fields, this work seeks to develop training strategies which can be successfully implemented to combat deepfake misuse.
