Teaching

1994 - Present: University of Abertay Dundee

Teaching and scholarly activities for post-graduate and undergraduate programmes: construction management, quantity surveying, architectural design, renewable technology, civil engineering, the environment and security.

 College Consortia Coordinator  (2009 – 2015)

  • Responsibility for quality assurance for specific School of Science, Engineering and Technology programmes; the MSc Construction Management delivered in collaboration with the Ecole Supérieure de Conduite de Travaux, Paris and undergraduate awards with Fife College and Dundee & Angus College 
  • Contribute to strategic direction as appropriate

 Programme Tutor (2003 – 2009)

  • Day-to-day management of post-graduate and undergraduate construction programmes; relevant Programme Executive, Module Board and Programme Board meetings and module development/review processes
  • Preparation and defence of annual reports and programme reviews to the University, professional bodies and QAA as appropriate

Research

Currently active in three strands of research: environmental and sustainability issues; management and leadership, including topical construction management and project management issues with a focus on Building Information Modelling; and teaching and learning.

Leader and team member managing freight and vehicle movement worldwide, overseas service including USA, Canada, Norway and the Oman.

Stock control and supply chain management

Manage computerised stock control system and train new employees

 

1993 – 2001  HM Forces (Reserve)

71 Royal Engineer Regiment - plant management and demolitions; transferred to local specialist infantry unit, D Sqn, at Invergowrie in 1997 to provide specialist logistic support and member of the Recruit Training Team until 2001.
