Personal profile
Emad is a lecturer in business management who is passionate about pushing the boundaries of knowledge. His research primarily focuses on accounting and finance.
During his PhD studies, Emad gained specialist knowledge in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its role in corporate governance. His research has enabled him to develop a profound understanding of business ethics, the various theories explaining CSR disclosure practices, their determinants and consequences, and methods for analyzing and assessing the level of CSR disclosures. Emad has also gained insights into how international regulations impact business management and how CSR disclosure guidelines influence professional practices.
After earning a degree in accountancy, Emad completed his MSc at Aleppo University, where he conducted research on the use of fuzzy logic to achieve target costing. He has developed in-depth knowledge of different product costing models (including the target costing model) and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, such as fuzzy logic and artificial neural networks, in the field of accounting and finance.
Teaching
Emad has a wealth of experience in leading and teaching a wide range of accounting modules to students from diverse cultural backgrounds and with varying learning abilities. In addition to his teaching expertise, he has strong professional experience in financial accounting, having worked as an accountant for five years. Throughout his career, he has developed a comprehensive understanding of financial principles, regulations, and best practices, with expertise spanning financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. This experience has given him valuable insight into the specific challenges and opportunities within the industry.
At Abertay, he has had the opportunity to further expand his expertise by focusing on business culture and practices—specifically, corporate social responsibility disclosure—broadening his perspective on accountancy and finance. He is eager to share these insights with students, helping them develop a well-rounded understanding of the field.
