Fraser Simpson is a Lecturer in Game Design at Abertay University where he leads the UKIE accredited BA (Hons) Game Design and Production programme, and delivers on 4 Game Design modules across years 2-4.

Prior to academia, Fraser spent 17 years working in the games industry, designing games for names like Activision, Sega, Microsoft, Sony, Square, Konami, Curve and Zynga, reaching hundreds of millions of players worldwide.

His DCMS research (as co-investigator) informed UK Parliament’s Loot Box legislation decision. Fraser is a co-investigator for the £3.2m AHRC-funded DesignHOPES project, and the co-recipient of a £250k Scottish Government Prototype Fund as Principal Investigator for ‘Flow Fusion’.

Fraser holds an MSc in Computing and Games from Abertay University,  achieved via a self-directed Masters by Research project.
His research interests include game design process and player behaviour in games.
