Jack Hogan works within the Abertay Learning Enhancement (AbLE) Academy as a Lecturer in Academic Practice. Having joined Abertay in April 2021, he has worked on a variety of student engagement and success projects. Namely he coordinates the MySuccess Modules and the Year 2 Microcredentials. These are embedded within undergraduate degree programmes at Abertay University.

Teaching
As part of the MySuccess Modules and Year 2 Microcredentials, Jack is module leader for:
- ABE101 Being Successful at Abertay - Mandatory for all 1st year students
- ABE201 Being Successful at University - Mandatory for all 2nd year direct entrants
- ABE202 Co-Create (Negotiated Studies) - Optional module for all 2nd year students
Jack also leads the Abertay Fellowship Scheme, accredited by AdvanceHE. The scheme awards Associate Fellowship (AFHEA), Fellowship (FHEA), and Senior Fellow (SFHEA).
Knowledge Exchange
In June 2023, he co-chaired the European First Year Experience (EFYE) Conference 2023 which saw 333 delegates from 24 countries visit Abertay University. The conference theme was 'building the foundations of academic and social success'.
In June 2024, he chaired the European Access Network (EAN) Conference 2024 which attracted 270 delegates from 14 countries. The conference theme was 'New Beginnings for European Access: Designing Equality, Transitions & Success'.
Research interests
Jacks research interests are student transitions and the first year experience, microcredentials, skills development and employability.
