Personal profile

Personal profile

I moved to my substantive role of Senior Lecturer in September 2019 after three successive fixed-term periods as Director of Academic Programmes / Academic Curriculum Manager. I served for four years in my last fixed-term role of School of Science, Engineering and Technology Academic Curriculum Manager, starting in August 2015. In the period August 2015 to August 2019, I was the vice-chair of the School Academic Committee and I was the Equality and Diversity Advisor for the School. My teaching and research interests are in the field of fluid mechanics, hydraulics, risk assessment and management, and environmental management and modelling. I teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and facilitate teaching and learning workshops for teaching practitioners. I have successfully supervised 11 PhD and 3 MPhil students, and 2 research fellows. I am currently supervising 1 PhD student.

I have held important positions externally, including being a Board member and Finance Director of Voluntary Organisations, and Chairperson of a Primary School Board. In March 2021, I was appointed as the Chair of the Chartered Institution of Water & Environmental Management's Qualifications Panel and joined the memberships of both the Professional Standards Committee and Engineering Standards Committee for the same institution.  I also gained appointment to the Water and Environment Journal Editorial Board in September 2007.

As part of contributing to the wider University, I am a member of the University Senate, where I contribute to formulation of policies and strategies and decision making at the University level.

Teaching

Dr. Oduyemi is keen on teaching and demonstrating hydraulic phenomena in the laboratory as this is often the best way of understanding fluid mechanics and hydraulics. He is also interested in applying public domain commercially available software to teaching. He has taught hydraulics, hydrology, air quality, environmental engineering and associated design classes at all levels within the School. Specialist topics taught at the postgraduate level include air quality management. Supervisor of many undergraduate final year projects and MSc projects.
