Linked User-driven Multidisciplinary Exploration Network

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The LUMEN (Linked User-Driven Multidisciplinary Exploration Network) project is an initiative to advance cross-domain collaboration and discovery processes in four academic fields: Mathematics (Maths), Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), Earth System Sciences (ESS) and Molecular Dynamics (MD). Through interdisciplinary solutions spanning all four domains, LUMEN sets out to significantly improve discovery by innovation, simplifying initial research phases and facilitating access to advanced AI-powered tools for researchers. The project aims to transform and strengthen EOSC services by promoting innovative and customisable solutions for data discovery. LUMEN thereby seeks to attract new users while simultaneously fostering Open Science principles.

LUMEN Objectives
LUMEN works towards four specific objectives to help bring Open Science forward through interdisciplinary collaboration.

LUMEN Objective 1
Establish a common knowledge and data space within the next-gen EOSC
LUMEN Objective 2
Create an ecosystem of innovative features that improve the quality of delivery of scientific outputs
LUMEN Objective 3
Support the production of FAIR-by-design research outputs.
LUMEN Objective 4
Facilitate the early stage of the research lifecycle by enhancing specific tools and services

Key findings

Abertay contributes to the user research and codesign of the LUMEN services, and leads the Work Package 3 of the project.
LUMEN will also extend the GoTriple discovery platform https://www.gotriple.eu/
