Abstract

This report summarises the findings of a questionnaire survey of the perceptions of finance directors of major petroleum and natural gas companies on accounting and other key issues relating to the abandonment of North Sea oil and natural gas structures, and related environmental concerns. Prior research, the research questions and methodology, and policy recommendations are discussed. Appendices present a copy of the questionnaire, summarised transcripts of interviews and responses, and disclosure of accounting policies on abandonment are discussed.
