    Abstract

This chapter addresses the role of microbicides (biocides) in the decontamination and disinfection of clinical instruments and clinical environments. The chapter investigates the current advice given to and by local NHS trusts in the United Kingdom and the role of governmental and European Union regulation in the testing and use of such biocides.
