Abstract

Employability and the development of graduate attributes are high on the agenda for many higher education institutions. This paper investigates the development of a pedagogy model to enhance employability through the development of graduate attributes within the subject area of computer games education.
Factors are identified in existing curriculum models prevalent in higher education that may be suitable for the proposed pedagogy mode. Current thinking on developing graduate attributes within curriculum is examined to identify how to effectively integrate their development into the proposed model. The proposed pedagogy model is then presented including aims and objectives, teaching and learning strategies and assessment.
The conclusions drawn indicate that a pedagogy model focused on enhancing employability can be developed as a hybrid of existing curriculum models with the development of graduate attributes and their importance being made clear to the learner to maximize their impact. Graduate attributes that are developed within a particular course should be placed alongside subject specific learning outcomes to cement their importance and relevance within the learner.
