Abstract
Suicide is a hard word. It’s a hard word to say. It’s hard word to hear. This comic’s job is to make it easier to talk about it. The more we talk about it, the more we reduce the stigma associated with it. The more we reduce the stigma, the more people will live, who may have died.
A comic is a wonderful way to tell a story that is about people’s thoughts and feelings. The images can communicate powerful messages that words alone could never do justice to. The people in these stories share with us both their outer and inner worlds, to invite us to look beyond what people say, or don’t. The stories in this comic were written by a dedicated group of third year mental health nursing students from the University of Dundee. Using both their personal lived experience and their professional experience, they worked and learned together to create this unique and wonderful resource.
Each of these stories ends with a connection. Someone brings hope into the life of another. That hope takes an ending and makes a beginning. Be someone’s beginning. We are all part of someone’s story, now you are a part of ours.
