Abstract

The purpose of this booklet is to provide officers with background information on the most common mental health issues, and the associated behaviour traits a missing person diagnosed with one of these is likely to display. The booklet contains chapters on the following mental health issues:

* Depression
* Suicide
* Dementia
* Psychosis / Schizophrenia
* Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depressives)
* Attention Deficiency Disorder (ADD)

Chapters regarding ‘Missing Children’ and how to search for ‘People Missing in Water’ are also included.

Once officers have established which, if any, mental health issue a missing person has they can consult the relevant chapter in the booklet. The missing person profile can then be further refined using the age and gender of the person as set out.
