Abstract

This article examines how active learning pedagogies can strengthen students’ disciplinary fluency and academic confidence at a time when generative AI tools offer persuasive but potentially reductive shortcuts. It argues that structured opportunities for practice, feedback, and engagement with disciplinary language are essential for enabling students to develop an authentic academic voice and resist overreliance on AI.
