Abstract
The Isle of Rum National Nature Reserve has a new Management Plan. Audaciously, SNH has placed much more emphasis on the 'human community' and its sustainability. But, it intends to do this under the auspices of the Nature Reserve. Can this be achieved in a way which will, indeed, reinvigorate the community without jeopardising the conservation interest?.
