Abstract

A method of allowing access to a secure area comprises illuminating an access control token incorporating one or more security markers. Emission from the security markers in response to the illumination is detected and processed to generate an access signature. Access to the secure area is allowed if the generated access signature matches one or more pre-defined access profiles.
