Abstract
This chapter explores the use of narrative as a fundamental curatorial tool in the discipline of exhibition-making to ensure cohesion, clarity and focus throughout the show, and as a mechanism to help foster meaningful connection with audiences. This practical perspective acts as a guide for prospective exhibition curators, specifically within the field of videogames exhibitions and events. It encourages the reader to consider core elements of voice, context, vision and scope, to design a functional framework for building a thematic exhibition narrative. The guide draws from personal curatorial experiences of working within gallery, festival and pop-up event contexts within the fields of digital arts and experimental videogames showcases.
