Abstract

This paper proposes a versatile IPTV video-streaming scheme that can provide high-quality unicast with the aid of repair packets but still support multicast without repair packets. Adaptive, application-layer channel coding for broadband wireless, compared to a fixed-rate code, reduces the bitrate overhead by several percent. Data-partitioned source coding without periodic I-pictures is adopted, making for a practical broadband wireless streaming scheme.
